Highlights: The best part has to be teeny-tiny-baby Ryo initially sounding more terrified than tuneful up on his swing during his duet with Subaru. He redeems himself when he sounds pretty good singing an English song (while being dressed like a clown! Lime green suit & white shoes?! Ha ha!!) Then there's the part where Yamapi fangirls (fanboys ??) Koki's naked photo shoot. There's a few lovely Toma & Pi shots during the backstage part (which obviously make Tackey jealous) so Tackey molests Yamapi before his solo song. There's a line in a T&T song that says "And I'm talking nonsense" and that really sums up most of the songs they chose to sing! Most of them don't make much sense at all...!

KinKi are involved in a random flag finding, clue solving orienteering, 3-legged race contest (!?) with Sakurai & Matsuoka. And many Johnnys fail at having good balance during a huge sponge dominoes crossing contest.

Highlights: I think this part is the best of the 3 parts of this year's Sports Day. I like to think of this as being the "B" clip. There's baseball, basketball, beach flags, backstage and the best scenes shown again. I thought it was cute that Yamapi was chosen as the #1 gentleman in Johnnys (and that Tsuyoshi thinks Yamapi has a perky butt!) Then there was HaseJun who was the complete opposite! The white team counting loudly to mess up Okada's attempts at estimating 10 seconds was pretty funny too. Kamenashi really was incredible during the baseball and it ended up being a really exciting match to watch near the end! ~~Can I also give a special mention to the shot of Toma wiggling his butt as he led the crowd in the cheering for the baseball game?~~

"Johnnys Sports Event 2003"

I loved KinKi's Tsuyoshi being the only man in Japan who cries after losing at rock-scissors-paper! And his funny antics/comments throughout the entire show. The event begins and ends with medleys of JE songs.

"Johnnys Sports Event 2003" Backstage - after + physical ability tests

Highlights: This is the part where they spend the first 20 minutes interviewing everyone & saying bye, then they do the  physical check up tests to see their strength and flexibilty (or lack of strength and flexibility...!) I found most of it a bit dull. But I did like where Sakurai introduced Arashi's "hope for the future" *lol* Once again Tsuyoshi stole the show with his comments (Desert!) but this time it seemed like he was trying a bit too hard to be the star. And maybe I think too hard, but I liked looking at the results of their lung capacity to try to guess who were smokers and who weren't at this time.

And naturally Johnnys boys are so talented that they master anything they try within minutes! At the end they go to eat and talk about the kinds of girls they like. Yamapi admits that looks count, while Massu is obviously thinking about one particular girl when he talks about there being girls who have charming eyes. ~~I wonder who she was?~~

Note: This is a fancam, so the audio is rather echoey (Is that a word?!) and therefore it was hard to catch the audio 100% accurately.
Highlights: Just ignore the first 2 pointless minutes of soldier boys running around in the dark pretending to be G.I Joe. Despite the seemingly strange mix of these 3 boys, the conversation was very natural and hilarious! Poor Ryo thought they'd never get around to inviting him to join their soccer team, they're going to headhunt Akanishi from Nagase's grasp and Matsujun gets annoyed when Ryo complains that Matsujun never says yes to his invitations. Power-hungry Matsujun tells Ryo to speak politely to him and later Ryo adamantly declares that he loves his member more than Matsujun could ever do! Nakamaru talks about being rejected from Nagase's soccer team because he's a comedian and how he hangs out with Ueda a lot. Matsujun is absolutely shocked at the idea of spending too much time with the other Arashi members.

Highlights: Sakurai and Aya are having some really unlucky days, but then they discover a 1,000 yen note with scribbles all over it that turns their worlds upside down. Koyama plays a pretty lousy assistant to a comic writer. There are also some baddies who try to pull off a bank robbery, some mafia guys with an old lady, some singers who sit like statues and a computer geek bankman. As usual with this series, the shows don't make a lot of sense, but this one at least has a (sort of) story and a moral (?) to it.

We also get to hear Massu's rock songs called "Imagine It" and "Baiser (Kiss)" which have really dumb lyrics (one of them sounds like a complete rip-off of a Beatles song)!

Highlights: I liked this episode more than the first one. I laughed so much when they tried to act cool and pretend they were smokers (even though it was obvious they were all lying!) Shige sniffing the girl's hair for so long cracked me up! And I loved how Kusano kept wanting the girl to wipe him or pinch him (and the way he gave her candy for free!) I still don't get why no one was more concerned when Tegoshi came back covered in grime and blood, but maybe guys just don't notice that sort of thing?! Maybe it's a girl thing to want to know why your friend looks like he's been in a war...!?

Highlights: They begin the episode by having an in-depth discussion about the price of wigs!? Luckily it gets a bit better after that. Shige sexually harasses Tegoshi and waves his crotch in Tegoshi's face  (so that bit from the pacific DVD wasn't the first time Shige's been flirting with Tego!). Kusano is hilarious trying to explain to the girl about what a certain porn video and book look like! And Massu is kind of sweet at the end when he stares at the girl and says "Girls are beautiful."

Okay, so the almost-plot revolves around a dead dumpling, but it's closer to a plot than we got in the first 3 episodes! The boys were funny looking like policemen directing traffic when they were telling the suicide guy where to jump from! Tegoshi freaked me out when he put his hands over his ears and started moaning like he was possessed by some weird ghost or something. Also you'll get to see Kusano as the worst fake crier EVER (only Massu would ever be fooled by it!)

And why doesn't Shige think Koyama is kind?) and also what they think are Koyama's weak points. Just like me, Kei is a yes-man. Koyama's mother sounds absolutely lovely! No wonder Koyama grew up to be such a darling person. But let's hope that his mom starts buying his merchandise at concerts and stops basing her purchasing decisions on hairstyles...!

Highlights: Tegoshi gives a running commentary on the 40 days of filming this movie, then he re-watches it & comments on watching his "younger brother" a year later. I usually think of Tegoshi as being a bit dopey, but this clip shows that he is a very deep person who thinks carefully about many things. (He reminded me a lot of Yamapi in the way that he expressed himself so openly but still sounding formal.) Maybe it was his "hollow eyes like holes" that made anything he said sound so profound. He seemed a bit full of himself during the "one year later" part and seemed to act like he thought he was such a good actor that he'd continue to be bombarded with movie & drama offers.

And there was a great photo tribute to Eri & Tsuru's marriage near the end which was lovely. (I loved the absolute joy you could see on Yamapi's face during the sukiyaki party photos!) And for some reason they end it by showing them filming about 4 trillion versions of TV ads to promote the upcoming Special drama.

Remember the scene from Never Ending Wonderful Story when Kei also filmed Yamapi when he was walking naked out of the bath? But really the more important questions is: *When do we get to see the tapes Kei's filmed of Yamapi that were for their private x-rated collection?* I am SURE they must have a collection of them stashed away somewhere!!)

"Drama Navi(gator)" (19 July, 2009) Orthros no Inu drama preview

Highlights: As usual, this show gives away most of the plot of the first episode, so be warned! Ryo was pretty adorable being sprayed with water, but other than that, we didn't really get to see much about behind the scenes. It kind of felt like a lecture about the characters that will appear more than a "get you excited to watch this series" promotional show. They keep going on and on about how speedy the drama is, but it seemed like this show was really speedy but the first episode of the actual drama itself wasn't any different than most other dramas really. And they tried to show off a lot about how this drama is based on American shows, interviewing a foreign guy from Warner Brothers and emphasizing that it was an American who drew the animation for the promo ad.
