Highlights: Tegoshi was such an ugly, awkward looking kid at this age! (And I loved how he'd written "I want to meet Mr. Science & I want a girlfriend!") But Ryo didn't look much better than Tegoshi because of his ugly permed hair! Koyama admits that singing isn't his specialty, and Nakai admits that his microphone is missing something important during singing sessions!

"Utaban" (12 August, 2004) NEWS & Nakai as volleyball supporters

Highlights: It's the second time NEWS were on Utaban and it took Nakai forever to notice that there were only 6 members this time! Nakai goes to watch the Japanese volleyball team's practice and has a great time there. Poor Shige is upset that the girl who said she was his fan now says she's a SMAP fan! Yamapi worries that if he dated a volleyball player and they had a fight, she'd slap him too hard. (It seems that he expects to be slapped by his girlfriend...!!) And NEWS perform "Akaku Moyuru Taiyou" with only 6 people, while Koyama follow's along in Nakai's footsteps as the non-singer of the group!

Highlights: Ryo insults Nakai (!!!) which causes all the other members to apologize on his behalf while Ryo looks around trying to make it seem like it was someone else that had said the insulting comment!! Yamapi stalks Nakai while he's out shopping, while Kusano chases Nakai around the studio. Unsurprisingly Shige works out the answers long before anyone else does and poor Massu never manages to get anything correct!

Highlights: This is NEWS 4th time on the show, but they don't really get to say or do anything. All they do is the typical Japanese over-exaggerated laughter every few minutes when they bring out random comedians. I do like their "TEPPEN" song that they performed though (I've been playing it over and over in my head and trying not to do the hand movements while out in public!)

"Utaban" (1 June, 2006) Yamapi & a magician talk part

Highlights: Nakai admits that he's jealous of Yamapi. Yamapi admits that he's wary of love. And Taka admits that he hates Monsieur Pierr!! Monsieur (& Yamapi) perform card tricks and astound/annoy Nakai with their magic skills. Yamapi has to be the only person I've ever seen who can watch a magic show, look rather impressed, but still not utter a single sound! How hard is it to say "Wow~!" or "How'd he do that?" or something? I think Yamapi's lack of reaction was the most magical thing~! Ha ha

Highlights: The members say they want to help raise the earnings of Yamapi's movie, even if they'll be given the video of it by the agency anyway. Shige does an impersonation of a bald wrestler, Tegoshi impersonates a senior Johnny's guy and Yamapi fails to impersonate an actor. Basically this is a pointless clip, but when it comes to NEWS clips, I'm starting to get desperate...!

Highlights: Another boring Utaban show (in my opinion.) The NEWS members had to bring on their treasured possessions and some experts valued how much they were worth. It seems that the NEWS members don't have anything worth much money!! I wouldn't have bothered to sub this clip (yes, it seemed that boring!) except that Yamapi had some Ichiro things and I'm an Ichiro fan too.

Starring: Every debuted Johnnys group ever!
Highlights: They show a brief clip of every debuted Johnnys group ever singing one of their hit songs. I found it interesting that Shuji & Akira were counted as one of the debuted groups. And I know as they were getting to the younger ones, I was getting more & more curious to see if that B.I.Shadow group would be counted as one of the debuted groups or whether Johnny had decided to pretend they were a one-off "special" limited time group like they often do when they mix & match members of Johnnys together.

"Utaban" (24 Nov, 2009) Yamapi's drama review & "Loveless"

Highlights: Yamapi was obviously asked to choose some Johnnys dramas he liked, but he must have only chosen a couple and I guess the producers wanted to make that segment longer, so they added a lot of Yamapi's own ones on at the end themselves. I can't help but wonder if that may also be the station's way of showing that Yamapi does have a connection with them, considering all his dramas in the last couple of years have been on a rival TV network instead (Fuji TV) and that they want to renew their ties with a guy who is sure to bring in the ratings.And even though I still don't get the significance of the dance moves, I do like watching the dance for "Loveless." And Yamapi's screwed up brow as he puts so much into singing it is somehow lovely to watch.
